Irish food, drink, and horticulture exports reached a record €17 billion in 2024, according to Bord Bia's Exports Performance and Prospects Report for 2024/25, marking a 5% increase compared to 2023.

Bord Bia attributed the growth primarily to higher pricing, noting that inflation continues to impact businesses and consumers alike.

Key Export Categories:

  • Dairy: Exports remained stable year-on-year at €6.3 billion, retaining their position as the largest export category. This represents a doubling in value compared to the 2014/15 report.
  • Meat and Livestock: Valued at €4.3 billion, this category saw a 6% increase compared to 2023.
  • Drinks: Exports surged 19% to over €2.1 billion, driven by strong whiskey sales, which rose 13% to surpass €1 billion. The emerging “ready-to-drink” category also experienced significant growth, with export values tripling to €235 million.

  • The European Union accounted for €5.9 billion of total exports, a 4% year-on-year increase. France, Germany, and Belgium were the largest EU customers.
